I was born of matter and energy
To a brilliant yellow sun
Eons had passed
My atmosphere vast
Earth and ocean spun.
Four elements conspired
To stir this potion well
Molecular brew
A membranous stew
From my seas a primitive cell.
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive
Evolution, destiny
Cellular diversity
Nature selectivity
The biosphere completed me.
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive
Ecosystems growing strong
Communities of higher form
And then as if by wizardry
Entropy, complexity
New emergent properties
Consciousness achieved for me
Collective thought of all that be
Consciousness achieved for me
Consciousness achieved for me.
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive
I am alive

We are one
Perfect balance
We perform our cosmic dance
In dynamic equilibrium
A mutual dependence
In dynamic equilibrium
A mutual dependence.
We are one
Individual
Life’s web self-perpetual
In union with four elements
Entities inseparable
In union with four elements
Entities inseparable.
As I change, so do you
As you change, so do I.
We are one
In this planetary scheme
Between what’s flesh and what is green
There can be no winners or losers
There can be no winners or losers
Just a balance
A balance
In between.
And Earth gives birth to Life
And Life transforms itself
And Life transforms the Earth
And Earth and Life are one
And I give birth to Life
And Life transforms itself
And Life transforms Me
And I and Life are one.

Thank you for all that be
This garden home you’ve shared with me
We multiply in harmony
The beasts and birds my family.
And the gods have given all my kind
The edge that comes with keener mind
And freed us all to mold our destiny.
And destiny will see the time
When we will loosen earthly ties
That bind our kind to mere equality.
Thank you for all that be
This kingdom’s wealth you’ve given me
Our numbers growing endlessly
We hold dominion land and sea……..Manifest Destiny.
Manifest Destiny.
And the gods have given all my kind
The edge that comes with keener mind
And freed us all to mold our destiny.
And the destiny of all the rest
Might is right, we’ve passed the test
It’s manifest, the world belongs to me.
A beast, a face
With a touch of grace
We take our rightful place.
We’re on the top
And we can’t be stopped
Behold the Master Race
Behold the Master Race.

I feel a change envelop me
A subtle aura rising
Coming from a most unlikely source.
You jeopardize unwittingly
The flower of our history
And take us down an unfamiliar course.
The consequence
Is never sensed
When you alone
Take precedence.
NaNaNaNa……..
You control all that you see
A limited horizon
With minds too young to know complexity.
And the distant fallout from your dreams
Lies far beyond your vision
So you avoid responsibility.
The consequence
Is never sensed
Until the world
Takes precedence.

Our minds cleared the jungle
Of nature’s selections
And allowed us to grow
In a thousand directions.
And the cultures that bloomed
Seeded prophets and sages
Down the primrose path
Of industrial ages.
We hold the power
To mold this paradise
To use all that we see
Discard what we don’t need.
All creatures great and small
Are at our beck and call
To house and clothe and feed
For our prosperity.
Our growth provides the key
For our economy
Our growth creates the need
For more technology
And more technology
And more technology.
Unlike these lesser beings
Constrained by earthly means
We rise transcendently
We have no boundaries
We have no boundaries
We have no boundaries.
Our minds cleared the jungle
Of nature’s selections
And allowed us to grow
In a thousand directions.
And the cultures that bloomed
Seeded prophets and sages
Down the primrose path
Of industrial ages.

Air pollution, no solution
The ozone fades while your smokestacks blaze
Oceans risin’, creatures dying
The rivers flowin’ with your human waste.
Take it easy on the trees
Take it easy on the trees, if you wanna breathe.
I don’t know why but they just don’t listen
I don’t know why but they just don’t listen
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.
And every day I spin around
Another species goes to ground
I say goodbye to another friend
While you leap like lemmings to your oblivion.
But I know that you can do better
If I can only wake you up
From this dead-end delusional dreamworld
That you have conjured up….It’s all messed up.
Day by day, we’re losing the forests
The life that feeds will soon be gone
A future in peril, no thoughts of balance
A barren world all of your own.
Take it easy on the trees
Take it easy on my trees, if you wanna breathe.
I don’t know why but they just don’t listen
I don’t know why but they just don’t listen
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.
I hope they wake up - before it’s too late.

Native Americans dreaming as one
The holy man’s work has barely begun
Collective unconscious deciphered is sent
To the spirits for greater enlightenment.
On eagle’s wings the awaited reply
In four days did arrive
The holy man circles his people
And breathes their dream to life.
Nature unbalanced
Harmony lost
No longer connected
A line has been crossed.
Nature’s unbalanced
But all is not lost
We offer up prayers
For our Mother the Earth.
To show us the way
To give us a sign
To send us a messenger
While there’s still time.
In all four directions, well into the night
The sacred pipe burning bright
We pray the Great Spirit, the Earth and the Sun
From all living things related as one.
On the day of the sundance, the solstice of summer
In the hearts of the dancers, the beat of the drummers
The songs of our people fill the sky
And we ask Mother Earth for a sign.
Nature unbalanced
Harmony lost
No longer connected
A line has been crossed.
Nature’s unbalanced
But all is not lost
We offer up prayers
For our Mother the Earth.
To show us the way
To give us a sign
To send us a messenger
While there’s still time
While there’s still time
While there’s still time.

How strong your lonely chorus
I sense your heartfelt pleas
At last, some human beings
Who still believe in me.
There are so many others
Imprisoned in their minds
Their cages built of ignorance
Selfishness and pride.
All children of one mother
They know not what they do
I’ll help them find their road
A road that’s clear and true.
Max, come be my messenger
Max, come be my messenger
Max, come be my messenger
A beacon in their night
May take an act of nature
To give them second sight.
Max, come be my messenger
Reveal my nature true
That we are all related
And I am one with all of you.
My oceans and my rivers
Flow within your veins
My thoughts and my emotions
Storm within your brains.
Among all things both great and small
You play but one of many parts
It’s the balance and the harmony
That feeds our beating heart.
Max will be my messenger
A beacon in your night
May take an act of nature
To give you second sight.
Max will be my messenger
Reveal my nature true
That we are all related
And I am one with all of you
Max will be my messenger
Reveal my nature true
That we are all related
And I am one with all of you
That we are all related
And I am one with all of you.

Max appeared on the first day of summer
Adopted the day he was born
Raised in a garden of love and compassion
And nurtured with insights each morn.
A strong enough man, he worked with his hands
No task too tough to unwind
At night he would dabble in music and verse
And sing you a piece of his mind.
And when his heart would wonder
‘Bout where he might fit in this place
He remembered
Someone once told him the Earth was his Mother
His brothers and sisters the lives upon her face.
Max always thrived on his friendships with others
He worked and he laughed and he loved
But there would be days when he needed his space
And a place to reflect on his life.
On the solstice of summer, the Black Hills were calling him
Back where his spirit could soar
Alone in the wilderness speaking to nature
And searching for the sense of it all.
And when his heart felt lonely
For one familiar face
His comfort was knowing the Earth was his Mother
His brothers and sisters the lives upon her face.
On a full moon’s night, with campfire sight
And smoke swirling moods undefined
Telegraph winds through the pines spoke to him
And startled his heart and his mind.
Max was unnerved by the pleas that he heard
And by nature’s spectral display
Come be my messenger, help save my children
I’ll guide you, you’ll show them the way.
And when his heart was frightened
By the voices so hard to embrace
His comfort was knowing the Earth was his Mother
His brothers and sisters the lives upon her face.
His comfort was knowing the Earth was his Mother
His brothers and sisters the lives upon her face.
