MOTHER EARTH

Mother Earth is an environmental tale describing the emerging impact of humans on the natural world and how one individual, Max, is called upon to bring a message of change to humanity in hopes of saving the living Earth.

PART I: EVOLUTION

BIRTH

Mother Earth is jubilant, recalling how she was forged from the elements of the Universe over billions of years, leading inexorably to Life and Consciousness.

BALANCE

From its unique place in this vast cosmos, Earth conducts an internal harmony between matter, energy and multiple forms of life, all singing as one soul.

TO BE ALIVE

Nature is able to observe itself for the first time and sentience is born.

THE MASTER RACE

At first in harmony with the natural world, humans begin to use their emerging intelligence to shape and ultimately control everything in it, effectively creating a split between Man and Nature.

AFTEREFFECTS

Mother Earth laments the naivete of humanity and the unintended consequences of trading harmony for superiority.

THE PRIMROSE PATH

After years of natural and cultural evolution, humanity commits to using technology to manipulate and exploit the environment as a means of attaining infinite growth.

TAKE IT EASY ON THE TREES

Mother Earth warns of dire consequences if humans continue on their heedless path of planetary degradation.

PART II: THE MESSENGER

THE DREAM AND THE PRAYER

When members of a Native American band of Lakota begin to have the same dream, their Holy Man's interpretation of their collective visions leads to a Sun Dance in which they request that a messenger between Mother Earth and humanity be sent to help restore planetary equilibrium.

THE ANSWER

After the Sun Dance, Mother Earth understands that the Native Americans still believe in the indivisible organic unity of all things, and agrees to send them a messenger, Max, who will reveal her true nature to humanity.

THE MESSENGER

Max enters the world and, with his Lakota ancestry and affinity toward nature, is drawn to the Black Hills where he hears the first, faint illusory echoes of Mother Earth as she reaches out to him.

VOICES IN MY HEAD

Max is frightened for his own sanity as he begins to struggle with rapidly developing hallucinations guiding him toward some unseen purpose.

EPIPHANY

As Max tries to make sense of his hallucinations, he is contacted by a small group of Lakota who reveal that he is the messenger they seek and that he is channeling Mother Earth; they encourage him to accept this as a gift. With their help, Max slowly realizes that he is not psychotic, rather he has developed an ability to interpret messages originating from the planet itself who is calling upon him to guide humanity in restoring balance and harmony.

THE WEIGHT OF THE WORLD

Max is overwhelmed by his enlightenment and the magnitude of the mission before him. He encounters disbelief, hate, and pity. He doubts his ability to make a difference, and asks for this cup to be removed from his lips. Mother Earth provides comfort and confidence that Max will get her message through.

CLEAR AND TRUE

Max removes his veil of doubt and can fully visualize the extensive planetary devastation while humanity remains in blissful denial; Max fully embraces his destiny.

FAR AWAY FROM HOME

Max shows the prodigal species the way back to a Unified Natural World.

FOR YOU MY MOTHER EARTH

An Anthem. Max vows to fight on until his last breath to save the planet he now knows to be a conscious entity; Mother Earth promises to nourish him on his journey.

PARADISE IS BLEEDING

Final message from Max to humanity. Open your minds and listen to the planet, time is running out quickly, we must act now before it's too late and do everything possible to save the Living Earth.
